The Seminar on Sino-Germany Sustainable Consumption Project was successfully held in Suzhou on October 25th, 2019. The representatives from China Environmental United Certification Center (CEC), German Environment Agency (UBA), The RAL gGmbH (RAL), German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ) and relevant industries attended this seminar.

The meeting reviewed the development of Sino-Germany eco-labeling cooperation; discussed the technical indicators and text of the common core criterion for shredder; and proposed further cooperation areas such as green cleaning service and plastic products. German experts gave detailed explanation about Blue Angel criteria for water-based paints and detergents of common concern and had in-depth discussions with the Chinese participants.

This meeting is the mid-term summary of Sino-Germany Sustainable Consumption Project. The participation of the representatives of relevant industries facilitates the application of the project findings. The Chinese and German partners are going to hold a teleconference in early December to discuss the further work plan.

The Sino-Germany Sustainable Consumption Project is under “Sino-Germany Environmental Partnership Project Phase II”, which is supported by government of the both countries and will last 4 years (2017-2021). It aims at deepening the bilateral cooperation on ecolabel and carrying out studies in areas such as green public procurement and green consumption. The partners of this project are MEE Environmental Development Center, CEC, UBA and RAL.
